Price Rule Creation

Apply To:
One of the following items must be chosen for each pricing item. Only one of these options will apply for each Pricing Item.
Packaged Product
This field can be set by using the Quick Lookup Button, >>, to reveal a list of all possible records in the appropriate Master File.
Once the Product has been selected, the drop down list to the right will contain a list of all of the “Units of Measure” available. You must select a Unit of Measure from this list.
This setting will establish a price rule ONLY for the declared package of the declared product.
Product
Choosing this option will activate the field box to choose a specific product or SKU. Once this option is chosen, the user can type the description or code for the desired product directly into the field, or can use the >> button to reveal a dialog box listing all products in the Product Master File.
This option will establish a price rule for all package sizes of the declared product. If a Product selected here also has a Packaged Product Price Rule item defined within the Price rule, the Packaged Product Price Rule item will take precedence over this Product Price Rule which would have otherwise applied.
Product Family
Choosing this option will activate the field box to choose a Product Family. Once this option is chosen, the user can type the description or code for the desired product family directly into the field, or can use the >> button to reveal a dialog box listing all product families in the Product Family Master File.
If this option is chosen, the Pricing Rule will apply to all Products which belong to the product family defined here. If a Product which belongs to this product family also has a Product or Packaged Product Price Rule item defined within the Price rule, the Product or Packaged Product Price Rule item will take precedence over this Product Family Price Rule which would have otherwise applied.

TIP: To keep pricing simple, it is recommended to not mix and match Pricing Family and Product Family rules on the same pricing sheet or custom pricing. This will make it easier for all users to understand pricing. When you do use both rules, the Product Family rule will override the Pricing Family rule.
Invoice Item
Choosing this option will activate the field box to choose a specific Invoice Item. Once this option is chosen, the user can type the description or code for the desired invoice item directly into the field, or can use the >> button to reveal a dialog box listing all invoice items in the Invoice Items Master File.
All
If this option is chosen, the Price Rule defined below will apply to all products. If there are any Packaged Product, Product, Pricing Family or Invoice Item Price Rule items defined, these will take precedence over the ALL rule defined here.
Pricing Rule
Once the decision has been made as to how the current Price Rule will be applied, there are several methods for defining the price rule itself.
Price Type
The normal setting for this field is “Sellable”. However, if you want to restrict a Product, Packaged Product, Price Family, or Invoice Item from being sold, this field can be changed to “No Sell”. If the “Warn Sell” setting is used, you can define the price for the item, but when you try to sell it to this POS, a warning message will be displayed with the contents of the “Note” field below.
Price Rule
Cost + %
This rule will take the Cost for the Packaged Product from the Products – Units of Measure page and applies the amount from the “Percent” field below. A positive or Negative value can be defined for the Percentage defined.
List + %
This rule will take the List for the Packaged Product from the Products – Units of Measure page and applies the amount from the “Percent” field below. A positive or negative value can be defined for the Percentage defined.
Cost + Amount
This rule will take the Cost for the Packaged Product from the Products – Unit of Measure page and applies the dollar amount from the “Amount” field below. A positive or Negative value can be defined for the Amount defined.
List + Amount
This rule will take the List for the Packaged Product from the Products – Unit of Measure page and applies the dollar amount from the “Amount” field below. A positive or negative value can be defined for the Amount defined.
Absolute Pricing
This rule will establish an absolute price for the items to which the rule applies. This will strictly use the dollar amount defined in the “Amount” field below.
Granular Absolute Pricing
This rule will multiply the conversion factor for the packaged product by the Amount. Entering the Amount here sets the price for one Unit. For example, if you used Granular Absolute Pricing for Cola and set the Amount to $1, the price for a box of 12 would be $12.
Amount
Dollar Amount defined for “Cost + Amount”, “List + Amount” and “Absolute Pricing” price rules. The amount entered here can be either positive or negative.
Percent
Percentage Amount defined for “Cost + %” or “List + %” price rules. The amount entered here can be either positive or negative.
Note
When “No Sell” or “Warn Sell” option is chosen for the Sale Type field above, DeliveryMAX is going to display a warning message when you attempt to sell the products to which this price rule is defined. The Note entered here will display as part of the warning message.
When you set a Pricing Rule at a Delivery POS or Micro Market POS, it overrides rules set in any Pricing Sheets applied to the POS.
Pricing Families – Pricing Families are used as a convenient way to group products together that will have similar Pricing Rules set. For instance, if you want to offer a Customer coffee products at a 25% discount from List Price, you will need to create a Pricing Family called Coffee Products, and assign each qualifying product in the Product Master File to that Pricing Family on the Products – Main data tab. Pricing Families only apply to Delivery Sales, and therefore to DeliveryMAX users.
Pricing Families differ from Product Families so that Pricing Rules can be created within or across different Product Families. Product Families generally group Product together for Inventory, Purchasing and Sales Reporting convenience. Pricing Families are used for the same purpose, of grouping products, but give you the freedom to create groups which only affect Price Rules.
**Note – For convenience, Pricing Families can also be used to define Tax and Commission structures when applied to Delivery Sales
